AFC East Week 5 Recap

Outlook

After another week the AFC East has offered up more questions than answers. A surprising division leader lost it’s footing and a sleep giant seems to have been awaken. One things for sure this division is setting up to be one of the most intriguing in the league.

Buffalo Bills

The Bills lost a back and forth game against the Cincinnati Bengals. After a first half that went back and forth, the Bengals seemed to take control in the second half. In the end big catches from A.J. Green were the difference as Buffalo lost 20-16. LeSean McCoy wasn’t also able to get on track and only carried the ball for 63 yards. The Bills now sit at 3-2 tied a top the AFC East.

A Look Ahead

Next week the Bills are on the bye and will try to regroup for the following week. Buffalo should used their week off wisely and concentrate on fixing some of the mental errors that plagued them this week.

Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins despite the controversy regarding their now former offensive line coach Chris Foerster, were able to bounce back and beat  the Tennessee Titans. The win was mainly courtesy of some late game heroics by quarterback Jay Cutler . Cutler struggled mightly at first and was met with boos from the home crowd, until a 4th quarter touchdown pass to Jarvis Landry put Miami up for good. If Miami is to have any shot of reaching the post season they have to increase their offensive production. 92 passing yards just wont get it done week in and week out.

A Look Ahead

Week 6 sees the Fins tangling with a tough Atlanta team. The Falcons will be looking to get back on track, after the bye week which followed a loss to the Bills. With Jay Cutler still somewhat struggling behind center its not a surprise they’re a 11 point underdog on the road.

New York Jets

The Jets were able to pick up another highly contested victory. New York was able to hold off a scrappy Browns team 17-14. The brightest spot on the Jets offense was quarterback Josh McCown. McCown passed for a pedestrian 194 yards but added two TD throws. With this win the Jets remain tied for 2nd place with the Patriots in the AFC East at 3-2.

A Look Ahead

Next up for the Jets is a showdown with the 3-2 New England Patriots. This should be a major test to prove wether New York is legit or not. They haven’t fared well against New England in years passed and things dont look to change. New York is an early 9.5 point underdog at home.

New England Patriots

The reigning Super Bowl Champions came away with a hard fought victory over the Tampa Bay Bucs 19-14. What once was a suspect defense held Tampa Bay to just 14 points and limited them to only 4 3rd down conversions. Tom Brady played like what weve come to expect, passing for 303 yards and a score.

A Look Ahead

The Patriots will try and keep their momentum going next week when they face the Jets. Their division has surprised many with their 3-2 record and will not be a push over. Look for New England to still be the favorite however.
