The Dodgers Are Back To Back NL Champions

The Dodgers have defeated the Brewers in game seven. They are once again national League Champions amd ae going back to the World Series.

Bellinger Puts Dodgers Ahead

Jhoulys Chacin and Walker Buehler squared off on the pitching mound as the Brewers and Dodgers went at it one last time.

The Brewers’ faithful had plenty to cheer about as starter Chacin had little trouble taking care of the first inning. He gave up a walk to Max Muncy with one out but ended the frame aided by double play by Justin Turner. Brewers’ fans had even more to cheer about in the bottom of the inning. Christian Yelich homered with one out in the bottom half of the first to put the Brewers on top early. Sadly for Milwaukee, they were not in front for long.

Manny Machado opened the top of the second with a single. That was followed with a 2 run homer by Cody Bellinger. The Dodgers were now on top with a 2-1 score. Chacin gave a double to Yasiel Puig but came out f the inning with no further damage. Buehler hanged the zero in the bottom of the inning despite two single by Milwaukee.

Josh Hader began the third on the mound for Milwaukee. He kept Los Angeles in check with a pair of punch outs and fly out to retire the side in order. A double play by Yelich killed Milwaukee’s rally in the third and the Brewers could not tie the score.

The Insurance Run

Hader gave another single to Machado to open up the fourth, Despite the single, Hader faced little trouble as he ended the inning with a groundout and a double play. Travis Shaw doubled to open up the bottom frame of the fourth. Buehler threw a spotless inning after that. He ended the inning with a fly out and a couple of strikeouts to Jesus Aguilar and Erik Kratz to end the inning. Hader once again kept the Dodgers in check leaving Chris Taylor stranded on second to the end the top frame of the fifth. The Dodgers’ starter was replaced by Julio Urias on the mound after giving up a double to Lorenzo Cain. Urias got the final out to end the fifth.

Xavier Cedeno made another appearance in the postseason opening the sixth for Milwaukee. He gave single to Max Muncy right away and was replaced immediately by Jeremy Jeffress. Justin Turner singled off Jeffress to pit two men on base. The Brewers’ reliever seemed to be out of trouble  after getting the first two outs. Nonetheless, Puig hit a three run home run to put the Dodgers up by four. The score was 5-1 after two-thirds of play.

A Shot At Redemption

Corey Knebel replaced Jeffress on the mound after a single by Enrique Hernandez. Hernandez was caught stealing at second and Knebel struck out Muncy to end the top of the seventh. Milwaukee was stuck on neutral as all they could muster was a single by Orlando Arcia before Kenley Jansen entered the game to end the seventh. Brandon Woodruff threw an immaculate eighth inning retiring the side in order with three strikeouts. Jansen had no trouble either. He retired them in order with a groundout and a couple of strikeouts. The Brewers had only three outs left in their season.

The Dodgers were close to put the game away in the top of the ninth after a walk to Matt Kemp loaded the bases. Woodruff struck out Muncy to end the inning and left everybody on base. Milwaukee had one more shot at the plate. Clayton Kershaw took the mound for the Dodgers in the last frame of the game. He looked to get the final three outs to send his team to the World Series. He retired the side in order with two punch outs to Aguilar and Mike Moustakas. The Dodgers are once World Series contenders.

Final Score: Dodgers 5- Brewers 1
