NBA Conference Finals Game 2 Recap

The Cavs Give Up, The Rockets Get Even

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

The NBA conference finals have taught us a lot after a pair of shocking game 2’s. The first being that a great team will often overcome a great player. And secondly, that a series isn’t over until its over. The Cavaliers and Rockets both looked to tie up their respective series, but only one would be successful in their efforts. However, the other was left to question where do they go from here and is their season even worth saving.

Game Summary

Biggest story of this match up between the Cavs and Celtics was not LeBron James 40 plus point triple double, but Cleveland’s apparent defensive meltdown. The Cavaliers defense in the second half was horrendous and quite frankly bordered on criminally negligent. Furthermore, Cleveland was outscored by 20 points in the second half allowing Boston to pull away. To add insult to injury the Cavs were a anemic 58% from the free throw line. The Cavs flat out stop caring at a certain point. A point that was emphasized by a cheap shot on Al Horford by JR Smith late. What should have been a flagrant two and clear ejection occurred when the Celtics big beat a lazy Cavs D to the rim and was pushed in the back by smith. After that the Cavs deserved to lose and lose they did.

Final Score

Boston 107 – Cleveland 94

Western Conference Finals Game 2

Warriors @ Rockets

Game Summary

Everything the Rockets did wrong in game 1 they did right in game 2. Houston was able to up there intensity and limit most of Golden State’s stars offensive output. Kevin Durant got his to the tune of 37 points but that was about it. Steph Curry was almost invisible except for on defense when he was getting lit up by MVP candidate James Harden. Harden had 27 points to go along with 10 boards and Houston kept this game well out of reach from the offset. Furthermore Draymond Green also continued to struggle only scoring once.
