Dodgers Tie Series In Extra Innings

It Took Thirteen Innings to Decide A Winner

The Los Angeles Dodgers needed extra innings to defeat the Milwaukee Brewers. The NLCS is now tied two games a piece.

Dodgers Get Early Lead

Rich Hill and Gio Gonzalez took the mound for game four of the National League Championship Series .

Gonzalez had a difficult start on the mound for game four. He gave a walk to Chris Taylor to begin the ballgame. Gonzalez then hit David Freese to put two men on base very early on the ballgame. Brian Dozier made him pay for his mistakes as he hit an RBI single to open up the scoring for the Dodgers.

The Brewers had more things to worry about as they not only were losing in the early going, but also his started left the game. Gonzalez left the mound on the bottom of the second inning with an apparent ankle injury, Freddy Peralta came in from the bullpen as his replacement. Peralta went immediately into trouble as he loaded the bases with a walk to Justin Turner.. He got out of trouble striking out Max Muncy. The Brewers’ reliever had a relatively easy third inning. Meanwhile, The Brewers could not get their first hit of the game yet.

Brewers Level The Score

The tables turned on the mound as it was now Hill who was struggling after retiring the side in order on the fourth frame. Orlando Arcia hit a single with one out on the top of the fifth. That was followed with an RBI double by pinch hitter Domingo Santana to tie the score at one. Once again, the Dodgers shot themselves in the foot with as they left men in scoring position on previous innings

Corbin Burnes came in from the bullpen for Milwaukee in the bottom of the fifth. He retired the Dodgers in order. Pedro Baez did a solid job coming in from the bullpen for the Dodgers as well. He stop the Brewers’ offense as he left a man stranded on base to end the top of the sixth. The game was still up for grabs as it headed into its late innings.

Bullpen Battle

The seventh inning proved to be indeed lucky for the Dodgers. Kenta Maeda came in relief for Los Angeles and allowed a double to Manny Pina. Arcia then hit a flyout to the warning track in center field, Pina tagged up to third base. Caleb Ferguson then came in from the bullpen and got Curtis Granderson out on a flyout. One more pitcher was needed as Ryan Madson got the final out of the inning to get the Dodgers out of trouble.

Josh Hader came in to the mound on the top of the eighth after the Brewers were unable to break the tie in the top of the inning. Hader gave up a single to Muncy right away and looked shaky to start the inning. Cody Bellinger also hit a single off Hader. Despite having two men on base, he struck out pinch hitter Matt Kemp to end the inning.

Kenley Jansen hanged the zero in the top of the ninth. The pressure was on for the Brewers and Corey Knebel on the mound. Knebel left a Dodger on base after three outs in the bottom of the ninth. The ballgame would need extra innings to decide a winner.

Bellinger Wins It Late

Jansen remained on the game to begin extra innings. After two outs, he gave up a single to Ryan Braun. Jansen struck out Jesus Aguilar to end the inning. Junior Guerra took the mound for the Brewers and retired the side in order in the bottom of the tenth. It took both teams 13 innings to win it.

Cody Bellinger hit an RBI single to bring Manny Machado around to score. Dodgers win it, series tied.

Final 13: Dodgers 2- Brewers 1 (F/13)

Where To Watch

L.A and Milwaukee will go at it again this Wednesday on game five of the NLCS. The ballgame is set to start at 5:95 PM E.T on FS!.
