Playoff victories have been hard to come by in the “Lone Star State” over the last quarter century. In fact Until this week the Cowboys had only one two postseason contest since 1996. But after a late surge against a tough Seattle team at home Dallas did just that. And now they sit just two wins away from playing for a championship.
First Half
The first 30 minutes of play was a defensive masterpiece. The Cowboys defense successfully stifled the NFL’s top ranked running attack. The Seahawks were held to just 6 points on offense and barely moved the ball at all. When Seattle wasn’t constantly getting three and outs they were settling for Sebastian Janikowski field goals. Therefore it was no surprised that Dallas went into halftime holding a 10-6 lead. The home teams lead came curtsey of a Michael Gallup 11 yard touchdown catch with little over a minute left.
Second Half
The final two quarters of this game saw an upswing of big plays on both side. This started with Seattle getting a key red zone take away to stop Dallas from increasing their lead. Although, Seattle would end up taking the lead on a Russell Wilson 4 yard touchdown run it wasn’t enough. Dallas would answer back with consecutive 4th quarter touchdowns to take the lead for good late in the fourth quarter. The second of which was a Dak Prescott TD run that iced the game with little over 2 minutes to go.
Final Thoughts
When all was said and done this game came down to two factors Seattle was offensively inept and that Dak Prescott would not be denied. The key play was Prescott using his legs and not his arm to pick up a long 3rd down and set up the winning score. While there were some questionable calls the Seahawks just plain didn’t deserve to win. They didn’t make enough plays when they needed to and now they are going home.
