And if that is the case he has nothing to be ashamed of . With only Tony Gonzalez presumably ahead of him, he is arguably the 2nd greatest tight end of his generation. Having a resume that includes 8 Pro Bowls and 3 All Pro selections Gates has earned the right to go out on his own terms.
What To Expect
What to expect is simple. You can expect one of the leagues all time greatest QB/TE collaborations to hook up whenever necessary. There is no better security blanket for Philip Rivers than his partner in crime number 85. The Duo has hooked up for an NFL record 87 TD’s, more than any quarterback tight end tandem. If a game changing play is to be made this season best believe 17 and 85 will be involved. And if history is any indicator they won’t disappoint.
